Grade 10 teachers’ perceptions of their application of socio-cultural and multiple intelligences on English second language learners

In multilingual or multi-cultural settings, teachers must be sensitive to the diverse intelligence of learners for teaching and learning have impact beneficial them. Low performance resultant academic failure among high school specifically in South Africa, inability manage abilities necessitated search a unique way accommodate differences found classroom. The study focused on learners’ supports implementation differentiated instruction. Fewer studies exist English Second Language (ESL) rural teachers’ perceptions application socio-cultural multiple intelligences, ESL taught ascertain scope need teacher training instruction Africa. Data were drawn from fifty grade ten using questionnaire. revealed that it is challenging determine intelligences emotional needs. 66% (n=33) agreed students different abilities, 34% (n=17) considered learners' gender differences, 62% (n=31) cultural backgrounds adopted group learning. mainly recommends supervision strategies accommodation abilities.
